Adios 2024: what a year!

No, this is not a "New Year, New Me" kind of post. This is a raw, unedited, unfiltered piece of content. It is not one wishing everyone a happy new year, nor is it one giving you unsolicited advice about how to meet your new year's resolutions- the ones you put forth but fail to meet annually (you and me both!).

As I sit down to type up my first blog post in over a year (and no I did not use ChatGPT!), I am experiencing mixed emotions- excitement about working on my first piece of personal writing in ages, along with anxiety and apprehension when reflecting on last year's "state of the world", accompanied by unexplained optimism for the future.

2024 was a confusing year for me. I was pained by the images of war and injustice that popped up on my social feeds. I was sad to see my sisters and brothers in humanity experience fear, loss, death and hopelessness. I was also encouraged to witness the glimpses of light- where humanity shone through, and were we saw kindness and empathy prevail. On a personal level, I experienced periods of stress, doubt, disengagement, but also moments of happiness, content, thankfulness and achievement- just like we all do!

As I look towards 2025- my one genuine wish for myself, my loved ones and the world is peace. And while we might be powerless in impacting global events, we can all play our part in spreading empathy and optimism wherever we can.

Quoting Pay it Forward: "Acts of kindness change people. Small acts of kindness change people in a small way. A big enough act of kindness can alter the course of a person’s life entirely. But, big or small, I’ve never seen it fail."
